For many years I”ve been a teacher, teaching everything from pre-school to college. Most of the time I’ve taught Language Arts, which has reading and writing at the core of its curriculum. I’ve also worked extensively with gifted students. One of the most enjoyable classes I have ever taught gave gifted middle school students the opportunity to pursue a topic they were passionate about in depth.

Nuclear LegacyNuclear Legacy: Students of Two Atomic Cities (Battelle Press 2000) was conceived and written in that class.

It’s an amazing example of what talented young students can do if given the opportunity. The book is written in both English and Ukrainian and is a collaboration between students of both cultures. It was a finalist for the Independent Publishers Young Adult Non-fiction award for 2001.
