A Box of Peculiars
By maureen.mcquerry | April 3, 2012
Even though POD should be on the bookshelves a full seven days before Peculiars, look what arrived on my porch yesterday. Not that I’m gloating, Podman. The box of books came as a complete surprise. I wasn’t expecting them for a month. Like an early delivery, I didn’t even have the nursery ready.

Come celebrate with both Steve and me at Secret Garden Books Friday May 4th 7pm. Wear Steampunk, dress as your favorite alien, compete in our goblin VS alien trivia challenge. Or just come for wine, munchies and live music. We’d love to see you there.

Dear Ms. McQuerry, The Washington State Governor’s Office recently hosted a delegation of elected officials from Ukraine as part of the Open World Program, for which I had the honor & pleasure of coordinating. After their departure from Olympia, I discovered your amazing book Nuclear Legacy through our local library. I am going to Ukraine next month, May 2012, on a reciprocal visit and would love to gift them with a signed copy of this book. They could, in turn, pursue having it signed by Tetyana Gavrysh in Ukraine. This would be a remarkable gift that would be received with much enthusiasm & appreciation, as an extraordinary tribute to our shared history & the future connections between Washington State & Ukraine. Upon my return, I would be happy to provide you with a photo of gifting the book to the Ukrainian delegate who lives closest to Chernobyl. Thank you for considering this request (I leave for Ukraine on May 6, 2012.) & I look forward to hearing back from you soon. Sincerely, Nancy Elliott
