This morning I received an e-mail from my daughter, Claire, an MFA student working in Europe this summer. She was happy to share that one of her poems was accepted for the debut issue of a promising new journal, Relief http://www.reliefjournal.com/. A few minutes later, I received an e-mail message saying I will also have poems published in the debut issue. Neither of us knew that the other had submitted. What a privilege to be published alongside my daughter!

Of course, this is the kind of news parents love.  I haven’t heard her response yet…it might be “Aw, Mom!” That’s okay; one day she, too,may have children to embarrass.
